Dr. Walter Peters specializes in breast enhancement surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Breast enhancement surgery includes: breast augmentation with cohesive gel implants and saline implants, and breast lifting (mastopexy).

Facial cosmetic surgery includes: facelift, eyelids (blepharoplasty), and nasal surgery (rhinoplasty).

Dr. Walter Peters received his MD degree with Honors, and his Plastic Surgery Fellowship (FRCSC), both from the University of Toronto. He received his PhD degree from the University of British Columbia. Subsequently, he was awarded a McLaughlin Traveling Fellowship for further training in Boston.

Dr. Peters has had a Plastic Surgery practice in Toronto for over 20 years. He is currently on staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital. However, his surgery is now done in his own surgical facility - The Rosedale Centre for Plastic Surgery, at Bloor and Sherbourne, in Toronto. Dr. Peters opened this facility in 2001. It is unique, because it has a hospital license. Surgery is done under general anaesthetic, intravenous (twilight) sedation, and local anaesthetic. Patients from across Canada, The Bahamas, Dubai, and elsewhere, can be admitted to the facility over night following their surgery. Otherwise, they may choose to stay at the Clarion Hotel, which is located across the street from our clinic.

From 1984 to 1996, Dr. Peters was the Director of the University of Toronto's Adult Regional Burn Centre, at the Wellesley Hospital, where he coordinated the treatment of over 2,000 patients with major burns. From 1984-2000, he was also the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Wellesley Hospital.

Since 1990, Dr. Peters has been the Course Director and Coordinator of the largest aesthetic plastic surgery symposium in Canada – the University of Toronto Annual Symposium for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Each year, over 250 plastic surgery professionals, from Canada, the United States, and abroad attend this meeting. Presentations are given by the top plastic surgeons in North America.

Dr. Peters has published over 160 papers and book chapters, and has presented papers at over 300 national and international meetings. He has been awarded over $5 million in research funding.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Peters has been the Coordinator of an international research study involving 3,000 women who have received silicone gel breast implants. In Washington, D.C., he is a consultant/advisor to the FDA, the Institute of Medicine Study on the Safety of Breast Implants, and the FDA Public Health Project. He is also a member of Health Canada's Expert Panel on Breast Implants and Health Canada's Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr. Peters is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Task Force, to define the guidelines for Plastic Surgery Independent Health Facilities. He is also a Facility Inspector for the Canadian Association for Accreditation of Surgical Facilities.

Dr. Peters is currently Full Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He has supervised the training of 11 Clinical Fellows, 28 Plastic Surgery Residents, and over 50 elective medical students at the University of Toronto. He has received many research awards, including the prestigious "Lister Award", for long-term research at the international level.

Dr. Peters offers a full selection of plastic surgery
procedures with special emphasis on cosmetic
breast surgery and cosmetic facial surgery. He
also performs abdominoplasty and liposuction
surgery .
